Laundry Soap Tutorial - Any Volunteers?

I have been asked my a few people how to make laundry soap, so I ask you, the soap people out there in Bubble Land... would anyone like to do a tutorial on making laundry soap?

I do know I have heard a lot of REALLY good things about Carrie Garvin over at Under The Willow Gifts and her fantastic laundry soap. Customers here have also asked if I would make some for them. They buy my soap, now they want me to wash their clothes. How 'bout that? Next they'll want me to wash their hair, their dog, their house and pay their mortgage...
;)

Any volunteers?

Are you looking for a 'from scratch' soap recipe or something else? I have one one my blog that involves heated fels naptha and borax. I use this one regularly myself. I also make liquid soap from scratch but I wouldn't dream of washing clothes with that due to hard water and soap scum and such.

That should have said 'grated' not 'heated', lol

Hey Joanna~ You're a hoot! Unless someone volunteers first, I could maybe do a tutorial after the holidays~

For those who can't wait~ take a peek at this link:
http://tipnut.com/10-homemade-laundry-soap-detergent-recipes/

From there you can tweak it to your own recipe~ I use my own cold process soap in my recipe~ which I know makes a BIG difference. And I also just make dry laundry soap now~ because I LOVE creating/mixing & packaging it. Also there are lots of different ingredients from washing soda to baking soda, etc...it's really what works for you...

But anyway most people start with a peek at that link...Good luck!

P.S. Joanna interested in reviewing some Natural Laundry Soap?

I have been using my DIY laundry powder for quite some time now. I've a post in my blog. It's very easy to make and I've also listed out what is the function of each ingredient.

I just did an article on this for the Saponifier's Jan edition. Let me know if you still need recipes/tutorials, although it looks like you have plenty of good volunteers already. I can provide one with pictures and such. Email me.

I actually have a tutorial on how to make powdered laundry detergent on my blog... here's the direct link to the how-to: http://whiteflagdesigns.blogspot.com/2009/10/oh-and-by-way-make-your-own-laundry.html
Since you make your own soaps, you could certainly use your own instead of the store-bought stuff- I hear that it works better if you don't superfat it. I wrote the tute for people who don't make soap, though, because not everyone has the time to make both soap AND laundry detergent :)
