The Coconut Challenge Is A True Flop

What happened to this challenge? I certainly was hopeful about people entering a contest, but I am embarrassed to say, I have received 3 entries.

Wow.

I guess contests aren't something we should conquer here at The Soap Bar. Maybe it's too stressful or competitive for you guys. Perhaps the coconut challenge really is a challenge and very few people have found a true coconut scent.

Whatever it is, I am here to remind you that you still have ten days to get a coconut bar to my shop. The soaps must be received by me no later than Friday, September 25th by 6 pm.

The address for mailing:

Product Body Shop
xxxxx
U.S.A.

To read the post with the concept and "rules" check it out here.

Well, here's the thing. I have a coconut scent I use and LOVE, but it is not a straight coconut and anyway, I don't blend it myself, I just use it right out of the bottle. I didn't really feel that fit with the contest.

Amber, If you want to send me a small chunk, you can still be considered... :)

Well... it's not for lack of trying. My coconut turned out looking like a bowling ball. And the scent is icky anyway.

I don't think you should give up on the contests though. :)

Well, let me see if I can dig up a bar. I *think* I have one left. :D

I've got one, but I was reluctant to send it because it was a soap you reviewed a while ago and I didn't want to be redundant :P

I'll get right on it!

Would a coconut cream pie be acceptable?

Body Luminosity: Absolutely!

Amanda: Great!

Kim: I'll save you for a peach review, perhaps....? ;)

I love your contests don't stop doing them

maybe coconut just isn't everyone's thing or like mentioned they just didn't think the one they have is straight true coconut.

Well, no dice. I am o-u-t of coconuty soap. BUT if I HP a batch tonight, I could have it to you by the cutoff and you could at least sniff it, even if you didn't want to use it immediately. I'll let you know...

Well, my house smells like delicious coconut goodness right now, soooooooo, I'm in!

You know I love you since I made a whole batch of coconut soap in September up here in the soon-to-be-frozen north... ;P

I hope you share the winning scent. I would love a good coconut scent that actually stuck around in CP soap

I'll be honest. I like my coconut scent, but it has an artificial smell. When the soap is processing, it alters it slightly, and makes it more suntan lotion than true coconut milk. Mine is also a salt bar, and I know how Brad feels about those damn scrubby bars!

The Dirty Bath Co. Are you serious? I am the BIGGEST fan of scrubby bars!! The rougher the better. Have you been paying attention in class?

Send me a little chunk if you can't spare a full bar. I love suntan lotion!

:P

I was very interested in the contest idea but, I soap with eo's only so I felt that coming up with a true coconut scent might be a challenge - I was rather hoping someone would come up with a wonderful coconut scent that you would post about.

I don't have any straight up coconut soap made, but I did spend months trying to find the perfect coconut fo. My pick is Thai Coconut from From Nature with Love. It is to dye for. Hope this helps someone!

Joanna, I certainly hope you are not implying I have floppy coconuts…LOL. Coconut Bay from BCN is a very nice natural coconut, and I’ve heard Coconut Cream from SW is also very nice… I think it’s the only one I haven’t tried out yet. I’ve actually thought about having a scent made duplicating the scent of virgin coconut oil… there is nothing like it available. The only problem is the amount one must purchase versus the risk of it not working in CP soap – morphing, discoloration, acceleration, etc.

I just saw your contest! I'm sending you something today :)

Well, I sent something on Tuesday. Tracking shows that it hasn't even left my state of NY. Guess I won't make it for the contest :(
