A Peek Before It Browns

I tried a new scent out (Blueberry Vanilla from Daystar) and I kind of figured that it would brown due to the vanilla content, but I used some, not a lot, of titanium dioxide and blue mica for swirls in a test batch.  You can see the swirls on top that went brown after three days.  Even though the whole test batch will be brown as a bear, I captured the blue/yellow when I cut the loaf.  It reminded me of those rocks that look plain on the outside and once it gets cracked open, there are gorgeous jewel-like stones inside.  I've seen them in museums and specialty gift shops.

Sad to say, but completely expected... the soap is now fully brown, but it was fun to stare at it while it lasted. :)

Boy, that effect is gorgeous! Like Celine said, too bad it didn't stay that way. But, I'm sure, like all your other soaps, it'll still be fabulous!

Man, more than fabulous. Like looking into a really cool lava lamp ! How ever do you do that lining of the whole bar with chocolate brown ? I'll bet its a family secret huh ? That's OK, it'll give me something to strive for this week. Thanks for sharing

Celine- thanks!

Teresa- You are too kind ;) (don't stop!)

Donna- There is no trick... not with this soap. I let the whole loaf brown from the vanilla and then 3-4 days later, I cut it and since the inside hadn't been exposed to air, it didn't turn brown. But now it is brown... I HAVE seen someone make the "outlined" soap by pouring a side per day so it does indeed look like this... but that is just way too much work when it comes to cp soap. I bet mp soap would be fun to try with.

LOL, Jo! You know that I think of you a million times a day because that's how often I wash my hands, and I use your Totally Awesome Crush On You every time. :)

It's such a shame when they turn, especially when they look like this to start with. I love that brown outer line. Here lady, I got my soaps today. I'm gonna do a video! xxx
