No Smoking, Get Clean!

I have always been a bit mystified by hemp products. Hemp is derived from marijuana but it is not marijuana. Hmm. okaaaayyyy. Honestly, I have never cared enough to ever look into it ---although, the whole hemp clothes thing stumped me years ago. How do you make clothes out of pot? Whatever. Again, I tell you. I don't care enough to look it up, and I look up everything that puzzles me. I am an information hog.

So I decided that I haven't touched on hemp oil here. The wonder oil in soaps. I still haven't tried it raw or in a soap, but in looks nice. Wonder what it smells like. Pot-ty?

Here are some beauties, I think you'll agree.

Beautiful soaps. Hemp oil makes a great lotion too.

The whole genus of plants that marijuana is a part of have been outlawed in our Country. The beneficial hemp for oil, cloths, etc don't even have TCP (the drug part) in them but are guilty by association. Sustainable plant that has stigma of drugs. Sounds like an uphill battle for education. Is the plant worth it? Some think so. Dr. Bronner has hemp oil in it's formulation.

I LOVE using hemp oil in my bath products. I use it in a few different soaps, its awesome in body butter and also foot scrub. Thanks for posting others who feel the same way!

Oh! And help seed oil has a very faint smell, a little nutty smell.

Hemp and marijuana are two different varieties of the Cannibis sativa plant.

And a few more factoids because I think hemp is really neat:

Hemp fibers are longer, stronger, more absorbent and more mildew-resistant than cotton.

Great looking soap finds Joanna!

I love hemp products...not just the oil based ones either. Most of my socks are made of hemp fibers as well as some of my husbands shirts.

When I first heard of hemp clothing I thought of things like potato sacks!! Not so...the fabrics are incredibly soft and seem to keep you drier in terms of sweating too.

Now that I've worn hemp clothing, given the option to choose between cotton or hemp...I'll choose hemp every time.

The quick explanation of the difference between marijuana and hemp is:
Marijuana is made with the flowers/fruiting body of the plant.

Hemp is made with the stalks and fiberous parts of the pant.

It's criminal that hemp is not allowed to be grown here. But don't get me started!

Hemp is such an amazing fiber/thing! I can't believe the paranoia that makes the govt outlaw it.

Lots of information on hemp! Thank you. You saved me the hours of research I would have spent online ;) I suppose I need to try hemp clothes and try some hemp oil in my soap. Next up on my list of things to order, thank you very much folks...
As far as the govt and hemp and marijuana and drugs? Don't EVEN get me started. I have to much to say

Hemp is not "derived from Marijuana". The plant that hemp is derived from is in the same family as the plant that produces marijuana, but hasn't got the chemical TCP that marijuana has. You can't smoke hemp and get "high". This is like comparing marigolds to calendula - they are in the same family, but not the same properties at all. It is these misconceptions that make it hard for people to understand why hemp products are so wonderful and useful, yet not associated with drug culture in any way.

It just shows how uninformed I am and probably the rest of us are. But seriously, uninformed or not, I didn't care if it was in the same family...

still I was uninformed. I completely admit my ignorance.

i think this is a genius idea. the soap is associated with cleanliness, and freshness, and the beer and cigaretts are usually seen as something bad, that are opposed with freshness in every way. If you combine this 2 you get a paradox. Brilliant idea especially for people who are smoker and use to drink .:)
good job

We make soap as well called Dope on a Rope soap, but ours is more of the concept "Dope on a Rope" ( www.dopeonaropesoap.com) Hemp is a wonderful additive - it does contain a "nutty" scent, but I found... not only does hemp seed oil contribute greatly to the barrier function and appearance it also has other skin benefits such as offering relief to acne, minor abrasions, psoriasis and eczema. Hemp is also the only plant oil containing vitamin D, which is necessary for calcium absorption, especially useful to vegans. Using Hemp seed oil is a great way to achieve soft, smooth and hydrated skin (taken from an informative website).

We love hemp!!
