I thought green - FRESH!- right? A great color for Sexy Laundry Day, right? Looks nice, I think and even could have been a little darker. But to add a little eye candy to the mix, I threw in some other Sexy Laundry Day scraps I had lying around and I stepped back and saw .... food. GUACAMOLE.
Wow. NOT the look I was going for. AT ALL. Maybe the individual slices won't look Mexican in nature, but as a loaf, it strangely resembles our local Mexican restaurant's guacamole appetizer. I added some glistening glitter to break the stereotype. Snap the brain back into reality. We'll see. It wouldn't bother me so much if I made this soap that smelled like cilantro and pepper or garden basil or something, but when people look at a soap that looks like a salad, maybe they don't want that rubbing on their naked body. Or maybe I know nothing and the world is much different than I have it pictured in my head. Hmmm. Something to think about.
Either way, now I know, that when I add embeds, I'll think ahead of time how the color works and if it evokes something yucky that I don't want on my body, like guacamole salad.
LOL! I saw the photo first and thought the EXACT same thing! I bet people will think Christmas-y thoughts when they see the slices though...:D
ReplyDeleteI don't think they look yucky. I think they look fresh as you say but I don't think the name is right. Merely an observation. I just made the same mistake - made some nice fresh green swirls in a white soap, and called it Green Fig! I'm changing the name now to Celadon Skies. I perfumed it with 'Figs 'n Leaves' and know I've made a boo boo. Never mind... You always make the most beautiful soap and this one still looks that way.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks like citrus and cucumber - not really like guacamole. :) But I think you're right about the slices - they look less food-like. :)
ReplyDeleteI think its beautiful soap. I didn't think food at all. I love your green too, how did you get that shade?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Heidi... I think it's a beautiful soap! I've still not tried embeds, I need to change that soon.
ReplyDeleteI think Sherrie is right: it does look like citrus and cucumber. Or even citrus and melon. I think I'm in love!
ReplyDeleteelizabeth: yeah, hopefully :D
ReplyDeleteseduction: hopefully others will think the same. Thanks!
sher: Cucumber...more foodie resemblance. Unintentional, but true :)
Heidi: Thanks, baby! I used what you told me to use. HAHA! I bought Key West Lime from Brambleberry after I asked you how you got that green in your soap. Remember? I didn't want to go too green because it was the first time I tried it. I love green!
Trisha: Thank you for your sweet words. You with your crazy soap habit??? I assumed you've tried layers, swirls, embeds, funnels, everything. Don't you make 20 batches a week and don't sell them? Shocking. Like I told you before....if you open an Etsy shop, I'd love to do a review for you...
Teresa Tadpole: It love you too!!!
Teresa: It LOVES you too. Boy, coffee really does make a difference. That's why I blog while I drink coffee instead of formulate. What junk I'd make!
ReplyDeleteI think honeydew and cantaloupe. Food, but refreshing. I've made honeydew facials. They're pretty yummy. This is actually a pretty soap, Joanna.
ReplyDeleteIt accidentally looks yummy?
ReplyDeleteBrambleberry has the best green color! I should think up a green themed series of soaps. As if I have time to sit and think = )
ReplyDeleteI merely thought you were doing some Yoda impersonation (although that'd be more like "Love you too, it does"...haha!). Yes - coffee! My savior on those bleary-eyed days.
