Final short bars
Strawberry Banana soap before curing
Last night I was determined to make a Summer soap. I made strawberry banana soap, uncolored, with cranberry seed sprinkles. I really like the way it came out except I made too little soap, so my bars are quite short. I wish they had 2 more inches of height. I smell Summer!
Recipe for this batch:
Coconut Oil: 12 oz
Palm Oil: 14 oz
Soybean Oil: 10 oz
Walnut Oil: 2 oz.
5% Superfat - 5.5 oz.
Water: 12.5 oz.
Banana fragrance
Strawberry fragrance
Cranberry seeds
You are getting the hang of this soapmaking thing! Those look sooo cool! I love the seeds on top and the nice light color. I bet it smells divine = )

ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful and wonder if it will change in a week or two. I love the color now, and thinking it may darken as it cures~ which would be good for the bananna fragrance! Anyway, this looks very yummmmmm..........
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I've ever posted. I've been a lurker for a couple of months. I like the look of these soaps, even if they are short. Simple but not ordinary. How much fragrance did you end up using?
ReplyDeleteThose look awesome, it's okay to have short bars, think of it as a learning curve, as you are learning how much oils your mold will hold.

ReplyDeleteRock on, Jo! Those look delish! I have had people tell me that they like smaller bars because they are easier to hang onto! Maybe you should trademark your shorties!

THANKS all! I cut them all at 1 inch, but the height is at about 2-3 inches tall. Oh well. I will have to almost double my recipe. This is fun, though, learning and fighting through the pain of failure. :)

I started an Etsy shop, but I don't know if I even feel right selling them because I am such a newbie. I may just pull them before the end of the day. I just thought I would offset the cost of making the darn things.

ReplyDeleteI would sell them as guest size, the soaps are neat! I love soaps about that size. I find that I like to change up my scents often and end up with several bars of soap in the shower.
I would love to try one out if you would be interested in trading bars of soap?
